Gay Marriage Watch: February 15th-21st

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

Here’s the latest news on gay marriage from around the world. We’re adding more and more gay marriage events, so if you know about an upcoming rally, symposium, or other same sex marriage related event on either side, please let us know.

Woody Award:

Our woody award this week goes to Linda Lou Taylor, a woman in Indiana who is considering her 24th marriage. She makes a mockery of the so-called “sanctity of marriage”, and the idea that someone who can marry gives the concept so little value while there are so many of us who can’t is downright insulting. Enjoy your woody, Miss Taylor.

Gay Marriage Watch:

Now on to this week’s Gay Marriage Watch. The blog is now organized almost entirely by area, with news of the week, upcoming marriage equality events, and great recent articles and columns. For a longer history of past news stories, just click on one of the older Gay Marriage Watch blogs from our archives.

To subscribe to this blog, or if you have any thoughts about how we can make this feature better or easier to use or any updates on the issues covered here, let me know at info@purpleunions.com.

We had a problem with our RSS feed, so if you’re subscribed that way to this blog, you may have noticed a bunch of postings after long silence. Sorry about that!

Enjoy the rest of the Watch!

Woody Award:

This week’s woody award goes to Jay Graham, a letter writer in Casper, WY. Lets see how many right-wing talking points he can get in:

First: Bill Ackerley’s Jan. 25 letter said it: socialism is not for Americans, but it is coming under Obama-Pelosi . Second: Charlie Powell’s Jan. 25 “Perspective” lacks perspective.

Of course, so-called “gay marriage”  does not threaten his marriage or mine; but the kind of thinking that equates “marriage” with “long-term relationship” bodes ill. The “social engineers”  are on the left: the kind of “social scientist”  or follower trying to ensure that, as on the left coast, children are brainwashed K-12 to accept as normal the oxymoron, “gay marriage.”  The mushy-minded, moral defectives  always assert that every social ill from potholes to war are important, while homosexuality from NAMBLA  to “marriage” are not.

Anyone who advocates violence against homosexuals advocates evil, and homosexuals ought to be left to cohabit as they choose; but anyone who thinks normalizing deviance  promotes freedom and social stability is wrong. We have a right to protect our children  and their right-thinking about marriage from brainwashing  that would make their learning how to be married and sustain a marriage for life from all enemies, not just homosexuals, of a stable life in a family.

Powell asks, “What would Jesus do?” Of course, He would follow the laws written clearly in the book He and the Father wrote!

Looks like a new record… 11 in four short paragraphs. It would be funny if it wasn’t so misguided, mean-spirited, and sad. Enjoy your woody, Mister Graham.

Enjoy the rest of the Watch, everyone else!
