Macedonia’s religious leaders are urging the government to prevent same-sex weddings by changing the constitutional definition of marriage.
A joint statement says marriage should be defined “as a union between one man and one woman.” Signatories included top officials from Macedonia;s Christian Orthodox and Catholic churches, as well as the Muslim and Jewish communities.
Religious leaders were to discuss the issue later Thursday with Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov.
