MI: Partners of State Employees Can Receive Benefits

Michigan CapitolThe Michigan Civil Service Commission has decided to allow benefits for domestic partners of state employees.

Previously, only legal spouses were allowed benefits from the state.

A spokeswoman for Equality Michigan, a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender advocacy and anti-violence organization, said in a news release Monday that the organization applauds the commission’s decision.
