Although a portion of her fan base may be made up of people with conservative beliefs, Carrie Underwood may not exactly share their same values. Contact Music reports that Underwood has come out in support of gay marriage in a recent interview.
“As a married person myself, I don’t know what it’s like to be told I can’t marry somebody I love, and want to marry. I can’t imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love,” Underwood told The Independent.
Underwood credits her church for liberal attitudes towards gay marriage, not in spite of it.
