An advocacy groups says many same-sex Illinois couples in civil unions have troubles filing joint taxes, getting access to health benefits for their partner and adopting.
The report released Friday by Equality Illinois comes a year after the state enacted civil unions, which grant same-sex couples many of the same rights and protections as marriage, but not all.
The group’s report is based on around 225 online survey responses from same-sex couples.
