A prominent Illinois state’s attorney now says the Land Of Lincoln’s ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional.
Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez believes the state’s constitution should uphold marriage equality. Her comments come in the wake of lawsuits filed against the state by same-sex couples looking to wed.
An area couple is hoping their voices will be heard. “We’re very open and we have a family that supports us,” said Tim Kee, of Marion, Illinois.
