Maine, USA: Anti Marriage Equality Group Launches Campaign

Written by scott on June 10th, 2012

Maine Marriage Equality FightA political action committee dedicated to defeating the statewide referendum to legalize same-sex marriage launched its campaign Saturday.

The No Special Rights PAC is lead by Paul Madore and Michael Heath, two familiar faces in the fight against gay marriage in Maine. They were joined by about a dozen supporters on the steps of Lewiston City Hall Saturday. Heath says he and Madore want to speak frankly about why homosexuality is morally wrong, despite the fact that many churches are shying away from discussing the issue publicly. He says that honesty will resonate with voters.

“We believe that as they come to understand our perspective on this that it’s not about hate, it is about love, and it is about telling the truth about what Christianity teaches and nature reveals about sexuality and humanity, that Maine people will agree with us in large numbers” Heath said.
