The Portland City Council on Monday announced its support for marriage equality in Maine.
The council unanimously approved a resolution supporting the passage of “Question One” on the Nov. 6 ballot and urged Portland’s residents to do the same. Councilor Nick Mavodones, who introduced the resolution, said he thought it was important to take a stance on the marriage equality referendum.
“I think this is the type of issue people who elect us from Portland want to know where we stand,” he said.
