Up to 800 same-sex couples will line up to receive marriage licenses during an 18-and-a-half-hour marathon at the King County Administration Building that begins at the stroke of legality, 12:01 a.m. on Thursday.
Exactly a month has passed since Washington voted — and King County voted overwhelmingly — in favor of marriage equality.
“It is a historic moment: Many have waited a long, long time for this and do not want to wait a day longer,” said State Sen. Ed Murray, D-Wash., chief sponsor of marriage equality legislation passed by the Legislature last February.
