Illinois, USA: Chicago Mayor Signs Marriage Equality Petition

Illinois Marriage Equality PetitionMayor Rahm Emanuel has signed the “ILove Marriage” petition, pledging his support for legalizing same-sex marriage in Illinois, according to an announcement by Lambda Legal.

“Mayor Emanuel has been on the forefront in advocating for the freedom to marry for same-sex couples in Illinois, we’re very pleased that he’s taken the step of signing the pledge to show his support for our efforts to bring marriage to Illinois,” said James L. Bennett, Midwest Regional Director for Lambda Legal, in a statement.

“As proud Illinois Unites for Marriage coalition partners, we urge everyone in Illinois who supports our freedom to marry to join Mayor Emanuel and sign the pledge and learn what you can do to bring marriage to Illinois,” said Bettett.

    Please email or call your Mayor if he/she is not on the list (type on Google: mayor freedom marry to see the list) and ask him/her to join. The least we can do as second class citizens.
