Remember that new marriage equality ad that we reported on yesterday? The one that hilighted a number of conservatives who support gay marriage? Well apparently Laura Bush is not amused, as Queerty reports:
Representatives for the ex-First Lady reached out to the Respect for Marriage Coalition, the group which created the ad, and asked them to remove the clip of her telling Larry King in 2010 that gay couples “ought to have the same sort of rights that everyone else has.” On Wednesday, the First Lady’s spokeswoman, Anne MacDonald, said Laura “did not approve” of the PSA and is not affiliated with the Respect for Marriage Coalition in any way. “When she became aware of the advertisement last night, we requested that the group remove her from it,” said MacDonald.
It’s a shame the former First Lady doesn’t have the courage to stand by her convictions.
