ILactionThe battle for marriage equality is coming to a head – the House could vote almost any day on the bill that’s already passed the state Senate. Joe.My.God shares this graphic from HRC.

And we just got this from our partners at Marriage Equality USA:

Marriage Equality USA is actively participating in coalitions that are working for state-wide civil marriage rights for same-sex couples in the key battleground states of Illinois and Rhode Island.

Following our victory in the Illinois General Assembly last Tuesday, we are making a compelling and energetic push before the full IL House floor vote takes place. The vote could happen any day!

In related news, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel encouraged his supporters to join the fight, Instinct Magazine reported:

The clock is ticking,” the mayor wrote in the personalized email. “The House is poised to vote…in the coming days. And I know from talking with several of my friends in Springfield that some members of the House still haven’t decided which way they’ll vote. If we’re going to pass this bill, it’s crucial that members of the House hear from marriage supporters every single day until the freedom to marry becomes law in Illinois.”

I only wish that the government of this country allow me the ability to pursue my own happiness. I plan on marrying my incredible girlfriend. This isn’t just about gaining equal rights for financial and familial rights; it means that my love for another human being is recognized as real and equal. I strongly encourage you to take this matter into serious consideration. This country must move forward for the best for all Americans.
