As the Minnesota legislature gets ready to debate a marriage equality bill, we get word of a new republican group formed to support the issue. TwinCities.com reports:
Republicans United for Freedom said Thursday, March 7, that its mission is to “defend individual liberty, promote strong families, and secure the freedom to marry for same-sex couples in Minnesota.”
University of Minnesota Law School professor Richard Painter chairs the group, which also includes U of M law school professor Dale Carpenter, former St. Paul deputy mayor Susan Kimberly, Log Cabin Republicans of Minnesota president Ken Smoron and Republican Party activist Alex Whitney.
Republican support is breaking out in all kinds of unexpected places.
