The RNC thinks all they need to do t win in 2014 and 2016 is to talk to gays and other minorities, not actually address any of their issues. The Washington Blade reports:
“We need to campaign among Hispanic, black, Asian and gay Americans and demonstrate that we care about them, too,” the report states. The report notes that younger voters — not just gay people — are being turned off by the Republican Party because treatment of gay people is seen as a “gateway” to entering the party. “Already, there is a generational difference within the conservative movement about issues involving the treatment and the rights of gays — and for many younger voters, these issues are a gateway into whether the Party is a place they want to be,” the report states.
The AFAs Bryan Fischer doesn’t even want the party to tlak with the gays. LGBTQ Nation reports:
As Fischer sees it, it is “idiotic” for the GOP to consider changing its message in an effort to win over ignorant and naive young people who don’t understand the dangers posed by homosexuality. “They don’t need to be pandered to,” Fischer proclaimed, “they need to be educated. We don’t pander to the least mature, least intelligent, least informed, least experienced, least educated members of our movement; we educate them.”
And he would know “the least mature, least intelligent, least informed, least experienced, least educated members of our movement”. They’re his members, after all.
