It’s finally (almost) here – Delaware’s marriage equality bill is finally due to be introduced in the House of Representatives tomorrow. Equality on Trial reports:
Representative Melanie George Smith, who led the successful effort to pass a civil unions bill in 2011, will spearhead the equal marriage legislation. Gov. Jack Markell, a supporter of marriage equality, has said he will sign the bill into law. He mentioned the push for equal marriage rights in his State of the State speech in January, saying that he wants a “Delaware that protects the rights of all its citizens, no matter whom they love.”
Delaware joins the race to be the next state to pass full marriage equality – Illinois, are you listening?
