The French Senate narrowly rejected a motion to send the gay marriage bill to a public vote. Joe.My.God reports:
The referendum motion has failed: 340 votes cast; 164 votes ‘for’ and 176 votes ‘against’.” That was uncomfortably close, n’est-ce pas?
And also at Joe.My.God, he’s reporting on a change on the ruling party’s social media accounts:
As the marriage equality debate rages on in the French Senate today, the ruling Socialist Party (the bill’s main backer), has changed their social media accounts to display the LGBT equality avatar made globally famous last month during the US Supreme Court hearings on Prop 8 and DOMA.
The Senate vote is due sometime next week.
