Green Street United Methodist Church was the site of a marriage equality rally in Winston-Salem, North Carolina yesterday. Fox 8 reports:
More than 200 people gathered at the Green Street United Methodist Church supporting gay marriage on Sunday morning. The Winston-Salem church announced earlier this month, that it will not conduct any weddings at the church until gay and lesbian couples are also allowed to the right to marry. “They took a stand in what they believed in and I feel it’s important as a community member that I be here to support them in that stand, ” said Larry Boles, a gay marriage supporter.
As North Carolina has lurched to the right politically, it’s encouraging to see some progressive voices out there.
