What LGBT Opponents Are Saying – Wednesday Edition

Our semi-daily round-up of the crazy things marriage equality opponents say. Let’s start with Rick Santorum – always good for a laugh. Joe.My.God reports:

“I’m sure you could go back and read stories, oh, you know, ‘The Republican party’s going to change. This is the future.’ Obviously that didn’t happen. “I think you’re going to see the same stories written now and it’s not going to happen. The Republican party’s not going to change on this issue. In my opinion it would be suicidal if it did.”

Georgia Representative Paul C. BrounDown in Georgia, GOP Representative Paul Brown went after Obamacare by making fun of transgender citizens. On Top Magazine reports:

“We already see Obamacare destroying jobs,” Broun asserted during the meeting in Winder, Georgia, the Barrow County News reported. Broun accused both Democrats and Republicans of spending “outlandish sums of money” and prescribed “some good old-fashioned Georgia common sense. “I don’t want to pay for a sex change operation,” Broun said. “I’m not interested. I like being a boy.”

Around the world in Russia, President Vladamir Putin thinks everything is just hunky dory for gays in the country. Towleroad.com reports:

“In the Russian Federation – so that it is clear to everybody – there is no infringement on the rights of sexual minorities. These people…enjoy all the same rights and freedoms as everyone else.”

Except for marriage, or civil unions, or protections from hate crimes, or the ability to say the word gay in public, or…

    Sometimes you have to shake your head, ask yourself “Did they really say that?”, realize they did…..and that they are treacherous human (and i use the term loosely) beings.
