What Marriage Equality Opponents Are Saying 4/22/13We’ve got a few new entries for you today from the wacko fringes. We’ll start with perennial favorite Alan Keyes – On Top Magazine reports:

“The aim is not compassion for homosexuals, respect for homosexuals and all of this,” Keyes said. “The aim in the mind of these hardheaded, calculating, leftist, Communist, totalitarians is to destroy the family and to establish the notion that once you have seized power there is no limit what you can do. If you want to tolerate abuses then those abuses can be imposed upon the people. Once you establish that, the abuses are then not going to be confined to egregious outrages like this; those abuses are going to be committed against the whole society and they will in the end include the murder of the masses as has occurred in all Communist regimes that existed. That includes as well the expropriation of all property because if you don’t respect the primordial God-endowed belongings that are associated with family life, then why on Earth would you be constrained to respect any other form of human property claim.”

Keyes Made the bizarre claims even though his daughter is gay. Speaking of bizarre, that’s what a New Zealand archbishop branded same-sex marriage as over the weekend. Gay Star News reports:

Archbishop John Dew of Wellington said: ‘We find it bizarre that what has been discarded is an understanding of marriage that has its origin in human nature and is common to every culture.’ The Archbishop added ‘we know many New Zealanders stand with us in this’, Catholic News Agency reports.

We find it bizarre that there is such rabid opposition to the idea that two consenting adults who love each other and happen to be of the same sex should be able to have the same rights and responsibilities as everyone else.
