Ohio, USA: Politician Disinvited From Graduation Over Marriage Equality Support

Franklin County Commissioner John O’Grady - OhioA Catholic high school in Franklin County, Ohio has uninvited a local politician who had planned to speak at the school’s graduation, because he supports marriage equality. The Advocate reports:

Franklin County Commissioner John O’Grady graduated from Columbus, Ohio’s Bishop Ready High School on the Hilltop in 1982. The principal asked O’Grady to give the speech two months ago, but days before the ceremony, O’Grady was told he was no longer needed. O’Grady said it was because Columbus Bishop Frederick Campbell discovered that O’Grady is the co-chairman of Ohio’s initiative for Freedom to Marry.

Kudos to Grady for supporting marriage equality. So the Catholic Church doesn’t welcome anyone why holds a different view on marriage equality? Even though 62% of US Catholics support it?
