USA: Supreme Court Rules on Prop 8: Struck Down

Written by scott on June 26th, 2013

Prop 8The US Supreme Court just ruled on the constitutionality of California’s Prop 8, the voter-approved constitutional ban on marriage equality.

The Court just struck down Prop 8 on technical grounds, too. From Roberts’ dissent in DOMA:

Page 4 of the Roberts dissent, talking about Prop 8: “We hold today that we lack jurisdiction to consider it in the particular context of Hollingsworth v. Perry.”

OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!

It was the right thing to strike down DOMA since every human being is the same. Now Gay Citizens of America will be treated equally to include I assume in immigration matters. However, I am not too thrill about prop 8 since it is a narrow victory that now still has to be fought in the different jurisdictions of the country. I hope that with DOMA common sense prevails. LONG LIVE AMERICA -JUSTICE PREVAILS.
