Seriously?

Seriously? The latest wacky antics from those lovable bigots who call themselves our opponents. Enjoy!

First off, perennial favorite Bryan Fischer of the AFA tweets (as Joe.My.God reports):

The first county clerk in CA who refuses to issue a sodomy-based marriage license is our next Rosa Parks. I have a dream.

Yes, because d black woman facing up to the forces of hatred and prejudice is exactly the same as taking away a couple’s happiness on their wedding day because you don’t think they deserve to get married.

SLIPPERY SLOPE ALERT! Texas buffoon Louie Gomert played the Slope Card, a longtime favorite of the anti gay crowd. The Advocate reports:

Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert may need a new line: he declared on the House floor that the “holy quintet” of judges who threw out DOMA paved the way for legalized polygamy and bigamy. “Once you move marriage beyond the scope of a man and a woman, you really don’t end up with a good place to put a limit,” the Republican said, adding a reference to King Solomon.

Over at NOM, Bryan Brown got all blustery about repeal. On Top Magazine reports:

Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), has vowed to “roll back gay marriage” wherever it exits. Brown made his comments in an interview with The New York Times, adding that “Ultimately, as Lincoln said, we can’t have a country half slave and half free.”

Memo to Brown and his ilk – you’re not the civil rights defenders here.

James Dobson at Focus on the Family thinks marriage equality leads to gender confusion. On Top Magazine reports:

“If you undermine it, if you weaken it, if you do anything to cause it to crack, like has occurred now with the rulings last week, you necessarily threaten the entire superstructure. I believe it can come down,” Dobson said. “Because you can’t have stability without a functioning marital relationship that leads to strong children who know who they are as a boy or a girl, or a man or a woman.”

See, mister Dobson, being gay has nothing to do with gender. And being transgender has nothing to do with being “confused” about gender. The transgender folks I have known have been very unconfused about which gender they were – it just didn’t match the one they were born with. And ironically, many of them can legally marry folks of the same gender as their birth gender in states where same sex couples can’t. So learn a thing or two before blathering on about things you don’t understand.

Over in Colorado, a pastor blames boys in “the skinny pants and the little fairy shoes” for the wildfires in the state. On Top Magazine reports:

“When you have a state where the House leadership is performing a homosexual act on the front page of the Denver Post two months ago? Does God read the Denver Post? Do you think he picks up a copy of the Denver Post? He gets it. God gets the Denver Post.” … “I brought up androgyny and how many young boys are running out and doing the metrosexual thing with the skinny pants and the little fairy shoes,” he said. “They’re working on the gender blender for themselves and they don’t want to look like a man and God is just so upset.”

I’m sure the post will be thrilled to include the Deity among its readership. Does He count as just one reader for circulation purposes, or is there a God boost?

Down in California, Robert Knight wants the south (of CA) to secede. Joe.My.God reports:

Judge Walker’s ruling applies only to the Northern District of California, leaving the rest of the state’s law intact. This gives Southern Californians more incentive to push secession. For years, sensible Southland folks have wanted not to reside in a state represented in Washington by Rep. Nancy Pelosi or in Sacramento by Gov. Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown. There would have to be a gerrymander, with Hollywood joining the north, but politicians are good at this. I hope they can pull it off, but I wonder where the rest of us are going to live when mere belief in the biblical definition of marriage is grounds for civil action and eventually criminal prosecution?

“applies only to the Northern District of California”??? Where did this guy go to law school? Jerry Falwell’s University?

Here’s one from outside the US. In Uganda, a popular singer called President Obama a faggot for his support of gays and LGBT rights. O-Blog-Dee-O-Blog-Da reports:

Insulting President Obama and riding the crest of the wave is a Ugandan musician Bobi Wine, born Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi, a four time Pearl of Africa Award winner, who in whining about President Obama’s concern for gay Africans did not mince his words with a homophobic rant, calling President Obama a “faggot”.

Amazing to me how some Africans like Wine, who have been persecuted for centuries, can hrow around such a slur at another group who has also gone through hell and back with such casual ease.
