You Gays Don’t Have Constitutional Rights
O’REILLY: I don’t buy into the fact that homosexuals have a constitutional right to marry. I don’t believe that, because if that were true, then pluralists would, then Mormons could have more than one — you know, all of that. But I do respect the fact that gay people want to be treated the same as everybody else. I understand and I respect it, but I think the states should decide.
Some Guy Tried to Defraud the INS in 1982, So BiNational Couples Can’t Have Green Cards
Virginia’s Ken “The Cooch” Cuccinelli and W.’s AG Alberto Gonzales teamed up to write an op-ed that’s a twofer for the GOP. Andrew Sullivan at The Dish explains:
Who at this juncture would want to target gay couples again, to push arguments that imply their marriages are all frauds, or that they remain a predatory danger to children? Alberto Gonzales and Ken Cuccinelli, that’s who. In a truly jaw-dropping piece today in the New York Times, the attorney-general who acquiesced in the suspension of basic rights such as habeas corpus and authorization of war crimes is nit-picking the history of court rulings on marriage to argue that bi-national gay couples have, unlike all straight couples, no inherent immigration rights. The case he cites? One from 1982, a time when marriage equality was barely heard of, involving obvious fraud.
Gays Are a “Tyrannical, Oppressive, Poisonous Cultural Force”
The Illinois Family Institute really, REALLY hates the gays. Think Progress reports:
The homosexual community and its ideological allies have become a tyrannical, oppressive, poisonous cultural force that compels conformity and compounds the suffering of children intentionally denied mothers or fathers… And still most Christians — and shockingly their leaders — say relatively little. Ever anxious that the non-believing world in its relentless misuse of Scripture will excoriate them for judging (rightly), speck-looking, or stone-casting, Christians opt instead to become complicit in child abuse.
Wow, such naked gay-bashing rhetoric these days is (thankfully) fairly rare. Keep it up – you’re not helping your cause.
ENDA is an Assault on Morality
Invoking another tired old trope agains the gays, FRC head Peter Sprigg tries to take down ENDA. Towleroad.com reports:
Right Wing Watch reports that Peter Sprigg (pictured right) of the hate group Family Research Council, stopped by Janet Mefferd’s radio show yesterday to stoke fears that ENDA represents a “direct assault on moral values,” and is actually just an effort to legislate the “immorality of those who accept homosexual conduct.”
Homosexual conduct. The gay lifestyle. You made the choice. When will we finally move beyond all this bullshit?
We Just Want the Gays to Be Happy (As Long As They Choose to Be Ex-Gays)
And finally, NOM’s Maggie Gallagher doesn’t want gays to convert. She just wants them to have the option. Joe.My.God reports:
“I don’t back something called ‘conversion therapy.’ I don’t even really know what conversion therapy is, and I’m not qualified to express an opinion on a particular kind of therapy. I back the right of gay people to seek the kind of counseling help they want, not the kind the SPLC lawyers want them to have, including help to live their sexual lives with integrity, according to their own values, not the SPLC’s values. That’s all.” – Maggie Gallagher, writing for the National Review.
How many years in the anti-gay community, and we’re supposed to believe she doesn’t “really know what conversion therapy is”? I call bullshit.
