Seriously?Welcome to Monday and another batch of crazy things marriage equality opponents are saying.

The Real Reason Microsoft is Losing Money (Hint: It’s the Gays)

First off, anti-gay wing nut and Pastor Ken Hutcherson from Redmond, Washington, knows why Microsoft is having money troubles. On Top Magazine reports:

“I had Christians buying stock in Microsoft and they gave me one share and they kept the rest of their shares and gave me their proxy to go to the meetings here in Seattle and say that as stockholders we do not like the way you’re going down in our country, in our state, trying to change the laws and to push the homosexuality as a minority group,” Hutchreson explained during a Tea Party Unity conference call. “I said if you guys don’t back off I’m gonna sell my stock and I’m gonna have everyone that bought sell stock; they laughed, they pooh-poohed me and they thought I was nuts so I said, alright just wait and see.” Hutcherson said that “there was a selloff of stock on March 15, [2011], $30 million in one day Microsoft lost and they have not recovered yet. Someone told me the difference was $30 billion and I never can confirm that because they won’t allow that to come out.”

Of course, it has nothing to do with Microsoft’s many and well documented mis-steps. And Microsoft’s biggest competitors, Apple and Google, also endorsed marriage equality and are doing just fine.

Nigeria Says Give Us Your Money, But Not Your Gay Values

American evangelicals are doing their work well in Nigeria, whispering in the ears of receptive leaders that LGBT rights represent a colonial intrusion in Nigeria’s sovereignty. LGBTQ Nation reports:

Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister on Saturday declared that the West is trying to “impose” gay rights on the country. During a session with representatives of the international community in the Nigerian capital of Abuja, Olugbenga Ashiru said “foreign” diplomats should not try and impose “gay” values that are “not part” of Nigeria’s “culture.”

So basically, they’re against LGBT rights because President Obama is for it. Gee, where have we seen this dynamic before?

The (Gay Marriage) Horsemen Are Coming

Over in Russia, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church sees signs of the endtimes in the marriage equality movement. Pink News reports:

The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow, has condemned the advance of marriage equality in the West, calling it a symptom of the apocalypse. While giving a sermon in Red Square’s Kazan Cathedral today, Patriarch Kirill said of the growing number of countries accepting same-sex marriage around the globe: “This is a very dangerous and apocalyptic symptom… It means that people are on the path of self-destruction.”

If we’re looking for real signs of the apocalypse, how about climate change, rising income inequality, war and famine? Seems like two people exchanging wedding vows would fall pretty far down the list…
