UK, Scotland: Two Thirds of Members of Parliament Support Marriage Equality Bill

Written by scott on July 1st, 2013

ScotlandIt looks like there is more than enough support in Scotland to pass the marriage equality bill through parliament. Pink News reports:

At least 89 Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) support equal marriage, according to latest figures. Citing the work of Scotland’s Equality Network’s, which is leading the campaign for equal marriage in Scotland, the Herald newspaper says opponents of the measure “face a seemingly impossible task”. It means the country’s proposed equal marriage bill is likely to pass when it comes to a vote.

Only 11 actively oppose it, and 29 are undecided. Looks like marriage equality is coming to Scotland!
