USA, Iowa: Governor Branstad Says State Will “Live With” DOMA Ruling

Written by scott on July 2nd, 2013

IowaIowa, one of the early states to get marriage equality through a court order, is in the news again after the Supreme Court marriage equality rulings. Pink News reports:

Republican Governor Terry Brandstad said on Monday, that individuals would have to make up their own mind on the issue, and declined to offer a personal opinion. “I guess it depends upon your perspective and your point of view on those things,” Branstad said during a weekly news conference at the Iowa Capitol. “I guess people can make your their own judgement on that. We’re going to live with the law and make whatever adjustments are necessary.”

Does this mean the death knell for GOP efforts to overturn marriage equality in Iowa.

Not by a long shot. BRanstad still said he thinks Iowa voters should have their say.
Mike Gronstal and the Democrats controlling the State Senate are the only reason it hasn’t been.
