Seriously?

Seriously? The latest in our series of the crazy things the anti gay folks are saying and doing around the world.

Recognizing Same Sex Families Will Humiliate the Children

Not quite sure how this whole thing works, but apparently the mere fact that a Tennessee city now offers benefits to same sex couples will be damaging to THE CHILDREN. Think Progress reports:

David Fowler of the Family Action Council of Tennessee, writing at Focus on the Family’s Citizenlink, challenges LGBT activists to justify two beliefs he believes are inherent to same-sex marriage: First, to the extent that same-sex couples want to bring children into their relationship, they must believe the sexual, emotional, and psychological complementariness of the two sexes and the value of that complementariness to children are irrelevant. Second, that belief rests upon another belief, namely, that men and women are the same, that there are no distinct characteristics apart from anatomy. If you doubt me, then you haven’t given much thought to what is behind all the gender identity arguments that have arisen since the same-sex marriage debate began… The second dilemma is Collegedale’s. Having embraced same-sex marriage, the City of has to explain why, in the words of Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy in the recent marriage decision, it is willing to “humiliate” the children of certain types of employees.

Aren’t kids of same sex couples humiliated by a state that forces their family into second-class status?

They’re Lying About Us, Says Group That Lies Regularly about Gays and Lesbians

NOM is PISSED about being investigated in Iowa, and decided to go after one of the investigators, Megan Tooker. Towleroad.com reports:

“By blatantly misrepresenting our position in the media, Ms. Tooker has in effect convicted us in absentia, without conducting any investigation or receiving any evidence. She’s prejudiced our case by lying to the media about our position on critical matters, and then declaring us to be ‘absolutely wrong’ and ‘absolutely false’ in our defense of the complaint. Clearly, this is not the kind of ethical behavior one would expect from the state’s top ethics officer, someone charged with conducting a fair and impartial investigation into the facts, and then carefully applying the facts to the law. Rather, it shows the deep bias she holds toward us for having helped unseat her former employer.”

Takes one to know one.

Your Marriage Rights Are Just a Passing Fad

And finally, in Australia, Opposition Leader Tony Abbott appeared to harden his stance on a marriage equality vote after the election. The Guardian reports:

Tony Abbott has come under fire for describing gay marriage as “the fashion of the moment”, while defending his opposition to legislating on the issue… “I’m not saying our culture, our traditions are perfect but we have to respect them,” he told John Laws at 2SM. “My idea is to build on the strength of our society and I support, by and large, evolutionary change. I’m not someone who wants to see radical change based on the fashion of the moment.”

Maybe Australians should make sure his party never gets to be the “fashion of the moment” again.
