USA, Illinois: Where Are the Votes for Marriage Equality?

Written by scott on September 12th, 2013

Illinois mapWindy City has put together an official vote tally for the House for the marriage equality bill, which may be considered at the upcoming veto session.

Windy City reports:

Using data pulled from public statements, endorsements and inside sources, Windy City Times has put together a comprehensive list on lawmakers and how they might vote. Following that list is an estimated tally of votes for the bill. We make no claims that lawmakers will vote according to this list, or that we have all the information on their stances. In some cases, it is very difficult to guess how a lawmaker might vote. In a few cases, this list has been informed by off-record statements from political insiders and LGBT advocates. In other cases, a lawmaker has been placed according to party lines.

Windy City cautions that this is not a definitive list. Their best guess? 52 yes or likely yes votes, 50 no or likely no votes, and 16 lawmakers in the persuadable middle.
