Dona Ana County Clerk Lynn EllinsA legal fund to defend the county clerk in Dona Ana County has raised $30K so far.

Las Cruces News reports:

Private donors are stepping up to the plate to pay legal costs to defend Dona Ana County Clerk Lynn Ellins in his decision to issue marriage licenses to gay couples. Meanwhile, a group of lawmakers suing Ellins, though it doesn’t have an active campaign to generate funds, is directing supporters of its cause to donate at a different website. Through Thursday, a donation-collection website set up by Ellins had logged 556 donations totaling nearly $28,400. Plus, Ellins said another $1,500 in checks had been sent directly to his office.

It’s great to see the support rolling in for this brave county clerk.
