USA, Hawaii: Senate Passes Marriage Equality Bill 19-4

Written by scott on November 12th, 2013

Hawaii Big IslandAfter almost three hours of testimony, including half an hour by the Senate minority leader inveighing against marriage equality, the Senate just passed the marriage equality bill by 19-4, with two abstentions.

It will now go to the Governor to sign, and same sex couples in the state can begin to marry on 12/2.

The GOP will likely challenge the law in court, and a judge indicated he’d be willing t at least entertain the case once the bill was passed. Still, it’s a beautiful day in Hawaii.
