Mackenzie Phillips Joins NOH8 Campaign

Actress Mackenzie Phillips for NOH8Actress Mackenzie Phillips has joined the NOH8 Campaign, the silent protest which raises awareness and funds for gay rights causes, including ending California’s 2008 voter-approved gay marriage ban, Proposition 8.

The 52-year-old Phillips is best known for playing Julie Cooper Horvath opposite Bonnie Franklin and Valerie Bertinelli in the long-running CBS situation comedy One Day at a Time. She also played Carol Morrison in writer-director George Lucas’ 1973 coming of age film American Graffiti. In 2010, Phillips went public with her lifetime struggle with drug abuse during a guest spot on VH1′s Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.

The NOH8 Campaign is helmed by photographer-activist Adam Bouska and his partner Jeff Parshley. The pair photograph celebrities and everyday folks with their mouths duct taped and the campaign’s familiar “NOH8″ slogan often written on one cheek.

NY: Actress Heather Matarazzo to Marry Partner in “Dream Wedding”

Caroline Murphy remembers what it was like to first meet Heather Matarazzo, and what she told her mother that day. She called up her mother and said “Mom, I just met my wife.” Murphy and actress heather Matarazzo are planning on getting married now that New York has legalized same-sex marriage in that state.

Matarazzo has played characters like Dawn Weiner in “Welcome to the Dollhouse” and Sadie Atkins in the upcoming “Manson Girls.” Still, she and Murphy are not only planning to get married, but to start a family.

Matarazzo has said that she sees herself and Murphy as complete beings who came together to help one another grow. She stated “I don’t believe that I’ve found my other half. That would mean I was thinking of myself as incomplete.” She also said “My eyes and spirit have opened up since I found someone that I get to share my life with.”

“Full House” Actress Won’t Marry Until Gays Can

Jodie SweetinJodie Sweetin, who played Full House’s wisecracking middle child Stephanie Tanner, is engaged to be married, but her fiance proclaimed that they won’t exchange vows until gay and lesbian couples can too.

Morty Coyle wrote on Twitter on Wednesday that he “is in Love with My Fiance and Waiting for Marriage Equality for All!!!”

PinkSixty News 12/7/10: Czech Dick Test; IL Civil Unions

Czech authorities have been condemned for using a sexual arousal test on asylum seekers who claim to be gay. The phallometric testing involves measuring sexual arousal by monitoring blood flow into the penis.

The US state of Illinois has passed a civil union law, which offers the same rights as marriage, this week. Gay or straight couples will be able to enter a partnership from July.

Glee’s Jane Lynch Marries Partner in Massachusetts

Actress Jane Lynch and her girlfriend, psychologist Lara Embry tied the knot on Memorial Day at the Blue Heron Restaurant in Sunderland.

“There were no celebrities or recognizable faces there,” restaurant co-owner Deborah Snow tells PEOPLE. “Lara’s daughter was there, along with close, close friends of the couple. It was small, warm, intimate and very sweet. You could feel the love and friendship amongst the group.”

Lynch and Embry cannot legally marry in California where they live, so the marriage took place in Massachusetts where same-sex unions are legal.

Actress Olivia Munn Asks Obama to Legalize Gay Marriage

Actress Olivia Munn wants President Barack Obama to legalise gay marriage. The 29-year-old says she’s “upset” that same-sex unions are still illegal in the United States.

“It’s ridiculous,” says Munn, “and I’m really upset that Obama, as a black man, and all the things that African-Americans have gone through after being oppressed, has said ‘you’re less than’ and cannot stand up and say marriage is a union between two individuals who love each other.

“I just think everyone should be allowed the same rights – if they want to exercise them, they can and if they don’t, they don’t.”
