Mayor: Marriage Equality Has Made Boston Better

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Boston and Marriage EqualityBoston Mayor Thomas M. Menino has said gay marriage has made Boston “a much better place to live.”

Menino is one of the more than 75 mayors joining the nascent group Mayors for the Freedom to Marry.

Mayors involved will lobby state lawmakers to approve marriage equality legislation and call on Congressional representatives to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which bars federal agencies from recognizing the legal marriages of gay and lesbian couples.

Cheryl Levine Photography, BostonDocumenting weddings, for 15 years, has been a privilege! I have met so many wonderful people, and I’ve had the opportunity to shoot in amazing locations!

My approach is to capture the moment, without interrupting it. This is achieved in a few ways…knowing light and composition…and finally, having a connection with my clients. When all three components come together, the true “candid” is achieved.

Piper Jo Nevins Photography, BostonCongratulations on your engagement – you’re getting married!

I’m a fully digital wedding photographer. My style is a combination of photojournalism and classic photography. I love black and white photography, and often view a wedding scene with that in mind.

As important as it is that your photographer takes good quality images, I feel it’s equally important that you enjoy the experience of working with your photographer.

Ceremonies From The HeartLisaAnn Donegan is honored to help gay and lesbian couples celebrate their love and commitment to one another. She feels fortunate to live in Massachusetts, so far the only state in the US where gay marriage is legal and recognized on a par with straight marriage. She believes that everyone has the fundamental right to the benefits, love, and responsibilities of marriage.

She will do more than just help you write your vows to each other and choose the best readings. She can also help you design a ceremony that’s meaningful, warm and uniquely you. Your ceremony should reflect what makes the two of you unique, your desires for the future, and the importance of your friends and family in your lives.

She can help you plan a beautifully simple civil ceremony, or a deeply meaningful religious event which can incorporate your own faith and rituals. She regularly works with couples of particular faiths, non-denominational couples, and couples who are not religious at all.
