Hudson River Photographer, New York City – Featured Lesbian Wedding Vendor

Friday, April 8th, 2016

Hudson River Photographer

Periodically we’ll feature one of our vendors here to let our readers know about some great people who can help you plan the perfect wedding:

Hi, I am Diane Stredicke, owner of Hudson River Photographer, and I celebrate the legalization of same sex marriage in New York!

I am thrilled to see the number of gay and lesbian couples marrying in New York City, Westchester and the greater Hudson Valley region. Every time a gay or lesbian couple contacts me, I do a little happy dance. Seriously!

About a third of my clients in the 2013 season are gays and lesbians, and I couldn’t be happier. Next year, I hope it will be closer to half!

What does this mean to you?

I understand the small ways same sex weddings are different from straight weddings. All weddings celebrate love and commitment, but gay and lesbian weddings sometimes take fun and unique paths to saying “I do”.

I work to keep my photography artful and authentic. Most of the day, I am simply photograph what I see: your family, your friends, the candid moments that make up the story of your wedding day. I spend time with you to create natural portraits of the two of you that showcase the fun and unique couple that you are!

Choosing your wedding photographer can be difficult. We are the one vendor that will be with you most of the day. Spend some time looking at the photos on my blog – I post every wedding and show lots of images, so you really get a sense of how we work.

Call me or email me today and I’d be happy to talk with you about what we offer, my photography style and pricing.

I work in the Hudson Valley, New York Metro, Connecticut and the Berkshires in Massachusetts.

My work has been featured on “On A Bicycle Built for Two”, “gayweddings.com”, “So You’re EnGayged!” and in the newly published book, “Capturing Love: The Art of Lesbian and Gay Wedding Photography.”

I look forward to learning more about your wedding day!

First Unitarian Church, San Jose – Featured Gay Friendly Wedding Venue

First Unitarian Church - San Jose

Periodically we’ll feature one of our vendors here to let our readers know about some great people who can help you plan the perfect wedding:

The wedding experience at San Jose’s First Unitarian Church begins in our 121 year old Sanctuary where rows of wooden seats are arranged in a semicircle on both the main floor and the mezzanine. They face a stained-glass panel that flanks the graceful, triple-arched chancel.
Your wedding guests can gather in the Fireside Room for cocktails. At dinnertime, just swing open the French doors into Hattie Porter Hall, a spacious, high-ceiling dinner and dancing area.

For many couples, the dream starts with a big church wedding, preferably a place with lots of charm, a sense of history and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Well, dreams can come true, because the First Unitarian Church of San Jose is gay friendly, and offers all that and more, welcoming gay and lesbian couples tom get married in this beautiful, sacred space.

Built in 1891 and recently restored to its former glory, the venue’s Romanesque Revival architecture incorporates graceful domes, arched entryways, a sun-kissed stucco facade and some of the most beautiful stained-glass windows you’re likely to find anywhere.

Perhaps equally important, the church, with its long tradition of community outreach and social equality, welcomes all couples – regardless of religious affiliation or sexual orientation – to celebrate their union in its unique circular sanctuary.

As an added bonus, before and after the ceremony, members of the wedding party can retreat to the upstairs lounge to change clothes or to just relax.

Our Complete Wedding Experience Package includes:

  • Two hours of pre-planning and eight hours for rehearsal, decorating, the event and cleanup.
  • Your choice of rectangular tables for 135 guests or round tables for 88 guests.
  • Use of two kitchens to warm and assemble prepared food with access to an elevator to bring items from the main kitchen to the reception hall
  • Use of the upstairs lounge
  • Use of the Fireside Room for cocktails or for use as a buffet.
  • Validated parking in the Third and Fourth Street Garages.
  • If you’re looking for a church setting to marry your partner, please give us a call – we would love to work with you to create the perfect wedding day.

CJ the DJ

Periodically we’ll feature one of our vendors here to let our readers know about some great people who can help you plan the perfect wedding:

2017 will be my 20th year as CJ the DJ.
I believe in love, freedom to marry & good parties!!

I live in beautiful, rural Fitzwilliam New Hampshire & host weddings regularly around New England; I’m considered the #1 local DJ from the votes of my local paper, the Keene Sentinel.

Becoming a club DJ as pastime when I turned 21, it became a passion when I changed venues, sharing the experiences with my foster children while entertaining families at a local farm resort.

I love DJing weddings, the experiences it brings & the wonderful people I meet or become closer to through music, particularly by helping them plan & execute most important days of their lives.

I’m also extremely community-minded & believe in equality.

I serve as Selectman for my hometown of Fitzwilliam New Hampshire, on my Alumni Board for Franklin Pierce University & I remain active in many organizations: Gap Mountain Lion’s Club, American Legion NH Post #11, Fitzwilliam Garden Club, Historic District, Historic Society, Twin States Network, Camp Takodah, YMCA, etc.

For every wedding entertain, I DJ two charity events.

I love animals & help Monadnock Humane Society & Fast Friends Adoption Center raise thousands annually. I help cancer groups, AIDS organizations, homeless shelters, youth groups, church groups, government organizations, business networks, local chambers of commerce & I often volunteer, providing sound for unique events, like the NH Travel Councils 39th Annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism and Peterborough’s Annual Gala this past Saint Patrick’s Day.

South Church, Mount Prospect, Illinois – Featured Gay Friendly Wedding Venue

Saturday, March 26th, 2016

South Church

Periodically we’ll feature one of our vendors here to let our readers know about some great people who can help you plan the perfect wedding.

The South Church welcomes you and invites you to celebrate your union in our beautiful sanctuary in Mount Prospect, just outside of Chicago.
Built in 1937, our church building captures an air of the traditional as well as the modern. Its white frame structure is patterned on a colonial design that sets it off from most other churches in the area.

New stained glass windows were installed in the 1990s. The windows’ modern designs allow a great deal of natural light into our air-conditioned sanctuary while depicting important scenes from the history of the faith. Our front doors open onto a wide staircase that spills onto the lawn, providing a perfect setting for your guests to congratulate you after your ceremony, and for keepsake photos to be taken.

Set in a lovely residential neighborhood in Mount Prospect, Illinois, The South Church has ample parking for you and your guests. This northwest suburban location is about 20 miles from Chicago, easily accessed by major highways and only a few blocks from the Metra Station.

Our location places The South Church near many restaurants and banquet halls, and our wedding package includes the services of the pastor, the music director/organist, and our wedding coordinator.

The church and surrounding grounds provide such a lovely backdrop for wedding pictures that many photographers include photos taken at The South Church in their portfolios.

When you are married at The South Church we place a congratulatory message featuring your names on the church sign, which also makes for a memorable picture.

Since its inception The South Church has served the needs of people from many different faith traditions. We are a church that encourages our members and friends to explore their questions and to construct a faith that is meaningful to them.

We take pride in our mission work, which serves mainly local needs. We offer an ongoing class in World Religions, believing that God has spoken in many different ways throughout human history.

For years The South Church has supported equal rights for gay men and lesbian women, and both the current and previous pastors have performed civil unions. We look forward to the day when marriage will be legal in our state, and in our country.

We hope you consider having your wedding at The South Church. If you are looking for a church setting with a very gay friendly staff, please give us a call.
