In an emotionally moving sweep, three openly gay Palm Springs council members strongly expressed their support for marriage equality.
On Wednesday, the Palm Springs City Council voted 3-1-1, with Councilman Chris Mills opposed and Mayor Pro Tem Lee Weigel abstaining, to bring back a resolution in support of same-sex marriages for council consideration May 4.
The resolution is expected to be similar to the one the city’s Human Rights Commission approved on March 14, which states its stance for “full civil-marriage equality for all residents of Palm Springs regardless of gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation.”
