England, UK: Several Labour MP's Threaten to Resign if Forced to Vote for Marriage EqualityPinkNews.co.uk has learnt that Labour’s decision to grant its backbenchers a free vote on equal marriage caused a major rift in the shadow cabinet with deputy leader Harriet Harman amongst those calling for the vote to be whipped.

Speaking to PinkNews.co.uk, a Labour source described last week’s meeting of the shadow cabinet as descending into a “massive row” and that two prominent MPs threatened to resign from Labour’s frontbench – if the party went ahead with a whipped vote.

One of the individuals, a Labour parliamentary veteran, held top cabinet positions in both Gordon Brown and Tony Blair’s governments, and both MPs are of deep religious faith.

United Kingdom: Welsh Vicar Resigns Over Church Of Engand’s Homophobia

Some members of the Anglican communion, including elements of the Church in Wales, have become more homophobic, claims a vicar who has resigned over the issue of gay marriage.

The Reverend Andrew Morton, vicar of Llangybi, Monmouthshire, is the first in Wales to step down over the issue.

He says he would have been willing to carry out such ceremonies. The Church in Wales said it a “matter of regret” for clergy to resign over an issue yet to be resolved by the church.

IA: Vander Plaats Calls on Remaining 4 “Gay Marriage” Judges to Resign

Bob Vander PlaatsSioux City businessman and former GOP gubernatorial candidate Bob Vander Plaats, who spearheaded the successful effort to oust three Iowa Supreme Court justices who ruled in favor of gay marriage, says the remaining four judges should resign, Radio Iowa reported.

Vander Plaats launched the Iowa for Freedom campaign after losing the Republican nomination for governor. His campaign was heavily financed by out-of-state anti-gay marriage groups, including the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), the nation’s most vociferous opponent of gay marriage, the Family Research Council (FRC), and the Christian-based American Family Association (AFA).

NOM had previously worked to repeal gay marriage laws in California and Maine.
