Singer Ricky Martin has warned Spanish conservatives against repealing the nation’s gay marriage law. Martin, who was granted Spanish citizenship four months ago, made his comments in a cover story for the April issue of the Spanish edition of Vanity Fair.
The story features photos of Martin posing for the first time with his twin sons, Matteo and Valentino, and boyfriend Carlos Gonzalez.
The recent election of Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and his conservative Popular Party (PP) threatens the nation’s gay marriage law, which was approved in 2005 by the Socialist government of Jose Louis Rodriguez Zapatero. The PP filled a legal challenge to the law based on technical grounds. Spain’s Constitutional Court is expected to issue a ruling any day now.
