Transgender FlagA Texas judge reversed a lower court’s ruling and said the state must recognize the marriage of a transgender woman to her now deceased husband.

LGBTQ Nation reports:

A Texas appellate court has reversed a lower court’s ruling in the case of Houston transgender widow Nikki Araguz remanding the case back for further proceedings. The 13th Texas Court of Appeals on Thursday sent Araguz’s case back to the lower court, saying the questions of her sex and whether the marriage was a same-sex marriage have not been answered. A Wharton County judge ruled three years ago that the marriage between Araguz and her husband Thomas Araguz was “void as a matter of law.”

One small step for transgender rights and marriage equality in Texas.
