India: Indian censors have muted the word “lesbian” in the film Dum Laga Ke Haisha released on Friday, sparking cries of homophobia. full story

Italy: Premier Matteo Renzi’s ruling Democratic Party on Friday vowed to set up a work group to frame a law governing civil unions in Italy, after a meeting with LGBT groups in Rome. full story

Morocco: A Moroccan court has jailed two men for gay sex in what a human rights group says seems like an unfair trial. full story

UK: Tory minister David Lidington has rejected proposals to follow the United States in appointing a specialised LGBT rights envoy. full story

UK: Labour’s LGBT rights envoy Lord Cashman has attacked the Tories for ruling out the creation of a similar role. full story

UK: The government has written to the authorities in more than 70 countries and foreign jurisdictions in an attempt to clarify the rights of gay people who are working or travelling abroad. full story

UK: The Labour Party’s Ed Miliband says that if the party wins the upcoming elections, they will expunge the records of men convicted of gay sex offenses, but that the men would not be pardoned. full story

UK: UKIP is the natural home for Catholic voters who are angry over same-sex marriage and other social reforms, deputy leader Paul Nuttall has claimed. full story

USA: There is growing body of evidence that gender identity is hard-wired into the brain and not simply a matter of psychology, according to a new Boston University School of Medicine study. full story

USA: HRC called out Presidential candidate Ben Carson for his statement that being gay was a choice because people become gay in prison. full story

USA: American Airlines announced on its Twitter feed Tuesday that it will join several other prominent companies, Apple among them, and filed a brief Friday in support of marriage equality. full story

USA: Wall Street’s leading banks have signed a brief pressing the Supreme Court to back same-sex marriage. full story

USA, Alabama: The Human Rights Campaign has condemned an Alabama Supreme Court ruling ordering probate judges to stop issuing marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples. full story

USA, Alabama: As of noon on Wednesday, HRC Alabama was unable to confirm any Alabama counties that are issuing licenses to same-sex couples, in the wake of an order by the Alabama Supreme Court late Tuesday night. – See more at: full story

USA, Alabama: A conservative black pastors’ group, the Coalition of African American Pastors, is giving Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore their first ever “Letter from Birmingham Jail Courage Award” in recognition of Justice Moore’s stand against marriage equality. USA, Arkansas: Federal Judge Kristine Baker said today she would not be lifting her stay on her marriage equality ruling because her case is still pending before the Eighth Circuit. full story

USA, Arkansas: Residents in Little Rock and North Little Rock, Arkansas are taking matters into their own hands to protect the rights of gay people after the state last month passed a law banning local governments from expanding anti-discrimination protections on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. full story
