ITALY: ‘There will be no gay pride in my Venice,’ Luigi Brugnaro has said, describing the event as ‘farcical’ and ‘kitsch’. full story

UK, NORTHERN IRELAND: The Ulster Unionist Party, a key opponent of same-sex marriage, is set to withdraw from the power-sharing Northern Irish Executive. full story

UK, SCOTLAND: Nicola Sturgeon has plenty of jobs as Scotland’s First Minister, but she added another one to the list as she helped one gay couple get engaged. full story

USA: A study by the Public Religion Research Institute released in August on the beliefs of American Catholics has found that despite the Church’s teachings, they support same-sex marriage and abortion just as much as the general population, and a large percentage of Catholic respondents mistakenly believed Pope Francis has backed gay marriage. full story

USA: Despite the Boy Scouts of America welcoming gay adult leaders into the fold, the Church of Latter Day Saints said it will continue its relationship with the organization, because the organization will still allow the Church to exclude gays. full story

USA: Christian Party Presidential hopeful Darrell Trigg has said that if elected to the nation’s top job, he will ban homosexuality and make Christianity the official religion of the United States. full story

USA, GUAM: Guam law now defines marriage between two people, regardless of gender, aligning local statute with a recent ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court, after the Governor didn’t sign or block it. full story

USA, KENTUCKY: In a three-page decision, a three-judge panel on the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals says it cannot grant county clerk Kim Davis a stay pending appeal on a district court injunction requiring her to give marriage licenses to same-sex-couples because she’s unlikely to succeed in the lawsuit. full story

USA, KENTUCKY: County clerk Casey Davis has declared that fighting against marriage equality is the hill he’s willing to die on—literally. full story

USA, OREGON: St. Mary’s Academy President Christina Friedhoff says the school reversed a decision to hire an employee because of a same-sex marriage. full story

USA, SOUTH DAKOTA: A South Dakota legislator wants transgender athletes to show their birth certificate and undergo a genital exam before they can compete. full story
