AUSTRIA: According to gay rights organisation Rechtskomitee Lambda, Austria is the only country in the world which has granted full adoption rights for same-sex couples but not allowed the parents of these children to marry full story

BOTSWANA: The Botswana Court of Appeal has voted to bolster a ruling in favour of LGBT rights organisations in the country. full story

CHINA: A transgender man from China has been sacked after a week in a new job because he wore men’s clothes. full story


IRELAND: A new survey shows that despite a public referendum last year legalizing same-sex marriage, LGBT youth in Ireland are twice as likely to self-harm and three times more likely to attempt suicide when compared with their straight peers. full story

UK: A Zimbabwean lesbian asylum seeker has claimed that she was told to hand over naked pictures to ‘prove’ her sexuality to UK authorities. full story

UK: This video shows bar staff refusing to allow a trans woman access to their ladies’ toilet, apparently on the orders of their boss. full story


USA: The Human Rights Campaign defended their endorsement of GOP Sen. Mark Kirk. full story

USA, GEORGIA: In a statement, Disney and Marvel have threatened to pull their production work out of the state should the anti LGBTIQA bill ultimately get signed. full story

USA, KANSAS: A new law signed by Governor Brownback allows faith-based student groups to require all members to strictly adhere to religious tenets, even if doing so violates the school’s nondiscrimination policies. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: Assembly legislators voted 84-24 to stop any local government in the state from passing an ordinance like the one Charlotte recently approved allowing transgender people to use the restroom aligned with their gender identity. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: Every North Carolina Senate Democrat just walked out of the chamber rather than vote on the bill which legalizes anti-LGBT discrimination. The remaining GOP Senators then approved the bill 31-0. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: Gov. Pat McCrory signed House Bill 2 into law shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday, overturning Charlotte’s controversial transgender ordinance. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: State lawmakers took the opportunity to overreach even more by forbidding North Carolina cities from raising the minimum wage with living wage ordinances. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: Following the passing of North Carolina’s HB 2, which outlaws all local LGBT rights ordinances in the state, the Democratic National Committee condemned the bill in a statement issued late Wednesday. full story

USA, TENNESSEE: Today, by a vote of 7 to 2 the Tennessee Senate Education Committee advanced SB 2387 – a bill that targets transgender students in public schools and universities. full story

USA, TENNESSEE: A bill seeking to underscore the right of Tennessee clergy to refuse to perform marriages based on religious convictions has failed in the House. full story

    So much for our revisiting Asheville or nearby Vanderbilt Mansion until U.S.Supreme Court overturns this hateful law some distant decade, we should all live so long.
