THAILAND: An American-Spanish gay couple yesterday opened a custody battle for a baby girl born to a surrogate mother in Thailand. The birth mother decided she wanted to keep the child when she found out the couple are gay. full story


USA: A resolution passed by the Republican National Committee (RNC) has shown the party are coordinating trans discrimination on a national level. full story

USA: Following the enactment of new anti-LGBT laws in North Carolina and Kansas, Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernard Sanders has responded by calling for an “end to discrimination based on race, creed and color.” full story

USA, ALABAMA: On Wednesday night, Rachel Maddow dug into the unfolding sex scandal centered on Alabama Governor Robert Bentley. full story

USA, ALASKA: Actions are currently being taken to repeal a recently passed civil rights ordinance in Anchorage, Alaska codifying equal protections for LGBT residents. The Anchorage Assembly passed Ordinance 96 last year. full story

USA, FLORIDA: About nine months after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that same-sex couples have a fundamental right to marry, a legal debate continues about whether a federal judge should issue a permanent injunction against Florida’s ban on same-sex marriage. full story

USA, GEORGIA: A coalition of major Hollywood figures have signed a joint letter urging Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal to veto his state’s pending anti-LGBT bill. Among the boldface names are Rob Reiner, Lee Daniels, Anne Hathaway, Gus Van Sant, and Harvey Weinstein. full story

USA, GEORGIA: Fox, Lionsgate, and Sony have joined the growing chorus of Hollywood power players urging Georgia to veto an antigay bill that would allow religious people to not perform same-sex marriage ceremonies and faith-based groups to not hire or serve LGBT people. full story

USA, GEORGIA: Anne Hathaway and Julianne Moore are among leaders in the entertainment industry who will boycott Georgia if an anti-gay bill is signed into law. full story

USA, KENTUCKY: The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Kentucky is challenging a state prison for illegally censoring inmate mail “promoting homosexuality.” full story

USA, KENTUCKY: Kentucky would have a single marriage license for straight and gay couples under a compromise plan backed by Republican Gov. Matt Bevin and the Democrat-controlled House Judiciary Committee. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: Today, Lambda Legal, the American Civil Liberties Union, the ACLU of North Carolina, and Equality North Carolina condemned North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory signing into law a sweeping anti-LGBT measure, HB 2, and announced that the organizations are exploring legal challenges to the discriminatory law. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: Wednesday was a whirlwind day in North Carolina’s government. The legislature convened a special session, a complicated multi-part bill was introduced, it passed through the House and Senate — both Republican controlled — and Gov. Pat McCrory (R) signed it into law. Just like that, North Carolina became the state with the most hostile laws against LGBT people in the country. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: A number of businesses have taken a stand against North Carolina, after it passed a bill that overturned an anti-discrimination bill, including American Airlines and Wells Fargo. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: The NBA has reacted to the passing of North Carolina’s House Bill 2, which voids pre-existing LGBT protections. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: After he signed into law a bill outlawing local LGBT ordinances, protesters have taken to the Governor North Carolina’s mansion. full story

USA, NORTH CAROLINA: Several demonstrators were arrested Thursday evening as they gathered outside the North Carolina governor’s mansion in Raleigh to protest a new state law nullifying local LGBT-inclusive nondiscrimination ordinances. full story
