CA: Hollywood Church Marriage Equality Banner Vandalized Again

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

Hollywood Church VandalizedThere’s a homophobic Hollywood-ite on the loose, and he’s slashing “equality”s left and right.

One month after the banner in front of the Hollywood United Methodist Church was vandalized to read “THIS CHURCH SUPPORTS MARRIAGE EQUALITY,” the replacement banner — an open letter to the mystery vandal — has been altered to almost the same effect.

Only difference is, the removal of the word “equality” was performed in broad daylight, and for that, looks a heck of a lot more janky.

CA: Vandals Cut the Word “Equality” From Church’s Marriage Equality Banner

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011

Marriage Equality Banner VandalizedThe word “equality” was cut out of a sign affirming the Hollywood United Methodist Church’s stance that it supports marriage equality over the weekend.

The sign, adorned on one of the most gay-friendly churches in Los Angeles, previously said, “All are precious in God’s sight. This church supports marriage equality.”

“As a church, we do believe in marriage,” church leaders said in a statement Monday. “But until everyone — and that means everyone — has the right to marry the one you love, regardless of gender, we will proclaim with our hearts and soul, and yes, our banners, that we believe in marriage equality.”
