Minister Deb

Periodically we’ll feature one of our vendors here to let our readers know about some great people who can help you plan the perfect wedding:

My name is Minister Deb and I have been officiating traditional and LGBT wedding ceremonies for over 12 years.

Before same-sex marriage was legal I officiated ‘commitment ceremonies’ for same sex couples who wanted to participate in a ceremony that had all of the components of a legal marriage. While performing these commitment ceremonies our visibility exploded as gay and lesbians fought for equal rights to legally wed. I lobbied, protested and spoke out for legalizing same-sex weddings for many years. Finally the Supreme Court gave all citizens the right to marry the person they love on June 26, 2015.

Since 2002 I have officiated over 250 weddings and I do this as a service to the LGBT community and to spread ‘loving kindness’ throughout our communities. Love has conquered our enemies and now they are our allies.

He enjoys meeting the couples and truly desires to make their wedding ceremony reflect their two personalities. Simple but thoughtful poems are sometimes used and rituals, such as the sand unity ritual, can be easily included, as well as an opening and closing prayer, if desired. CA: San Diego County Will Allow Gays/Lesbians to renew Wedding Vows at Valentine’s Event

Friday, February 11th, 2011

Gay couples will be allowed to renew their marriage vows at San Diego County’s Valentine’s Day Tradition on the Bay.

Officials tell the San Diego Union-Tribune that same-sex couples who married during the six months when California legalized their unions will be welcome at the annual event. They can pay $50 for a renewal ceremony at the County Administration Center.

County assessor and clerk Ernest Dronenburg says he asked the county counsel’s office about the legality of permitting same-sex marrieds to take part and was told the law permits it.
