Don’t Pretend You Don’t Know Who and What You Are Marrying — A Rant by the Wedding Planner

Thursday, February 13th, 2014

Hey Everybody!

Happy Valentine’s Day! I’ve spent the past week blogging about love and relationships and romance, but today I let loose with a long-overdue rant. The impetus? I cannot control the fact that this Monday is a federal holiday, can I? Therefore, I cannot force the marriage license office to be open. Now gay marriage isn’t legal in Puerto Rico (YET) so none of my gay clients are torturing me, but the premise of this blog goes for all couples, gay and straight. So pour a glass of wine and plan to laugh your butt off at my expense. Click here to check out my rant about brides and grooms who lie to each other and blame it on their vendors!

Happy wedding planning from Weddings in Vieques and Weddings in Culebra. And Happy Valentine’s Day to you too!

Getting Engaged This Holiday Season? Advice on How to Properly Save Your Date

Friday, December 13th, 2013

Hi there!

The vast majority of couples get engaged between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day, and it’s a mad chaotic scene around here from January through April with brides and grooms who are researching wedding destinations and trying to grab their first choice wedding dates.  Needing to book ahead two years is a myth — although it’s good for your budget — we can plan a wedding in as few as six weeks if we have the date available and your guests can get organized… AND you can make decisions quickly.  But the point of this blog in today’s Huffington Post is that you need to go about “shopping” for your wedding destination, your wedding planner and your wedding date in a polite, professional manner.  Guerilla-style date-blocking is unacceptable and you’ll get busted.  Oh yes, even competitors talk. 🙂  Click here to learn how to best approach getting the wedding date you want in the best way possible!

Until next time, happy wedding planning from Weddings in Vieques and Weddings in Culebra!

Do You Want to See Boobs at Your Wedding? The Breastfeeding Dilemma for Weddings and How to Tackle It

Thursday, December 12th, 2013

Today’s blog in The Huffington Post Weddings is about how it’s difficult for brides and grooms with more conservative families (or getting married in conservative venues) to deal with their more liberated friends who not only insist on bringing their baby to your wedding, but plan to whip out a breast and feed the little one right there at the dinner table.

This is a real question that comes up for gay and straight weddings, and not just destination weddings.  It’s a Wediquette question in general, I guess you could say.  Because although breastfeeding mothers have the option to pump and use a bottle, many of them don’t.  If it doesn’t bother you, great.  But if it does, and it’s your party, how do you handle that?  Read my blog here to find out what my client are struggling with on the public breastfeedings at weddings debate!

If you’ve got a strong opinion on this or disagree with me, comment on the HuffPost and let us know what you think!

Until next time, happy wedding planning from Weddings in Vieques and Weddings in Culebra!
